For the past ten years, there is one skill that I always could rely on - my writing skills. That has started to deteriorate over the course of the last semester. My solution? More blogging! I need to be writing regularly. That is something I have gotten away from. So this is my new new year's resolution. I have a set of old resolutions that I keep on breaking. Ok, time for a nap.....

Going Back to the Scene of the Crime

So I begin my weeklong Thanksgiving break by leaving an hour and a half later than I wanted to, with not much of anything planned out. I especially didn't have a place to stay in Baltimore. I immediately try to rectify this matter by not letting my needle drop below 80MPH, and I frantically call all my friends in order to find a place to crash.

I remember back to my first trip home after moving to Baltimore. I had a whole new perspective on Boston. For instance, a Boston accent sounded like a foreign dialect. I never noticed how severe it was. Same thing happened in my three days in Baltimore.

As I approached the city and caught my first glimpses of the skyline, I remember saying to myself, my Baltimore actually looks like a city for once. Of course, once I reached downtown, I was already saying, what a shithole! I guess some things never change.

Of course, I spent most of my time in Baltimore with my Peabody friends. While I have been noticing how much nicer people are in the Midwest, I forgot how interesting and eccentric people can be. On the flip side, there are a lot of people at Peabody that made me want to avoid them at all costs. There are very few people like that in the Midwest. So the range of eccentric behavior in Baltimore is much greater and with that one gets the good and the bad. Haven't figured out which I would rather have.

I saw my old mechanic who replaced one of my struts and gave my car the once over. Never in a million years did I ever think that I would let some guy deep in the ghetto of Baltimore have complete trust in my most expensive possession. Unfortunately, he had no moonshine for me.

I made a beeline for Mick O'sheas for burger and beer night. Tasting Resurrection for the first time in several months made me quite happy. I was grateful for a good burger and the fact that someone would take the time to ask for a temperature for a burger.

I was struck how some people weren't surprised to see me. Come one! I live half way across the country! I got to see a friend from college and made my rounds throughout Baltimore. I had a blast! Seeing Peabody under a new light(i.e. being at a music school of a very different nature) was most enlightening. Well, off to Massachusetts!
